RHD inc. was founded in 1994 by Rob Herschenfeld, a native New Yorker, born and raised in the Bronx. He attended Bronx HS of Science and then MIT. After Graduating from MIT in Physics in 1989 Rob went to apprentice as a furniture maker for Hank Gilpin of Lincoln RI. From there he went to University of California Berkeley for his graduate work in Mechanical Engineering, returning to NYC in the early 90’s to found RH Furniture Inc. a design and fabrication shop dedicated to apprentice style training to teach craftsman style flexible manufacturing techniques to ensure their preservation in a changing world. This became RHD Inc. as he diversified into design/build architectural projects and then into diverse development projects. RHD continues to be his design, fabrication and development company and a one stop shop for clients looking to pursue their dream projects with one person with the capabilities to take the dream from its abstract origins all the way through to completion. Whether this is a new business venture, a dream home, a commercial real estate development or a special furnishing addition for home RHD has the capabilities to model the project, design it, budget it and manage the entire process.
